Position: Consultant Developer

Details: At Autodesk I am employed as a full-time consultant developer working within the UK consulting services division. The current project involves the development of middle-tier web services and data access components used in an enterprise platform for a key Autodesk client.

May 2008 - June 2009 For the 2008/2009 academic year, I was on a study break in order to complete the required coursework for a masters degree in Information Security at Royal Holloway ISG - London University, via the London University International Programme. Mandatory and optional courses completed: Information Security Management, Cryptography, Network Security, Computer Security, Smart Cards / Tokens Security and Applications, and Secure Electronic Commerce. Position: Consultant Developer

Details: At Datapharm work included the development of a domain model and resource mapping application toolkit (API) that is being used across the organization, as well as work on ‘Medicine Guides’ (a web site for medicine information in the UK). A major achievement at Datapharm was the development of the company’s core document submission and workflow management application.

Position: Systems Architect and Lead Developer

Details: A start-up company, OnAsia Images is a specialist Asian-based stock photography agency that has built a collection of over 100,000 images for sales into the global news and editorial publishing channels – including well known publications such as Time Magazine, The Sunday Times, Le Monde, Der Spiegel and others.

At OnAsia I designed the company’s core image production and e-commerce solutions – including an innovative approach to full-text search and image retrieval. Image management applications also included a subject classification system that allowed teams of keyworders to accurately keyword and classify images stored in the system. Despite initially limited resources, the systems developed at OnAsia were key to the company’s successful fund-raising activities – which in turn led to the company being acquired by investors in 2005.

A significant amount of time in the latter part of my break was spent studying and developing skills in areas of software development that I am particularly interested in.

Details: With an annual budget of 2 million pounds, the Book Group IT department at Macmillan was composed of three teams responsible for system infrastructure, development and Web development respectively. Projects at Macmillan included the development of several client/server publishing, sales, and marketing database applications across the group. Previously developed web sites were brought in-house for redesign and redevelopment. Web sites developed included all of the public divisional sites - several with full catalogue and online secure book ordering facilities.
